I want to talk about a fascinating trend in the training world: the shift from facilitator-led to learner-centered learning (via the Web). The "pull" method of training--where the learning seeks out the training he/she needs--is fast becoming the next great thing. Why? Greater reach, improved productivity, “bite-size” pieces of information, more learner control...But I'm concerned about long-term retention. Research says: application, practice, feedback. I worry that it's money and time spent without great results.
